Our Philosophy:
The Warrior’s Path. Discipline, Honor, and Legacy.
The Bushido Samurai Code 道場
At Temple Martial Arts, every class—whether Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Wing Chun, or self-defense—is a return to the fundamentals: discipline, presence, and control. Our teaching is rooted in traditional martial values, not modern noise. This is a martial arts school in Coral Gables where respect is not requested—it is required.
We believe in moving with intention. Speaking less. Listening more. Whether you're here for martial arts classes in Coral Gables, seeking martial arts for your child, or training privately for self-defense, at any age the lesson is always the same:
Strength is not aggression. Strength is awareness.
The samurai emerged during Japan’s Heian period (794–1185), when aristocratic clans began raising private armies to protect their land and influence. These early warriors were not nobles—they were retainers, trained to fight on foot and horseback with bows, spears, and eventually swords.
As regional conflicts grew, the samurai developed a code—later known as Bushidō—which emphasized loyalty, discipline, and mastery of self. Over centuries, they became the warrior class of Japan, serving feudal lords known as daimyō. The sword, once a tool, became a symbol of honor. But true strength lay not just in the blade—it lay in the ability to remain calm, composed, and decisive under pressure.
The samurai were tacticians, scholars, and warriors in equal measure. Martial training was never about brute force. It was about form, timing, and control. These same principles form the root of all traditional martial arts, including what we teach today.
